What is Gabion?

A Gabion (from Italian gabbione meaning "big cage"; from Italian gabbia and Latin cavea meaning "cage") is a cage, cylinder, or box filled with rocks, concrete, or sometimes sand and soil for use in civil engineering, road building, military applications and landscaping. For Flood Control and Slope Protection. For erosion control, caged riprap is used. etc.

Gabions and Mattresses
Gabion box divided into several cells by virtue of clapboards, and edges of all plates employ steel wire of larger diameters as a way of strengthening intensity of Gabion Box structure. Besides, Gabion Box is used to server slope protection structures regarding water courses, banks and roadbed slopes. ASTM 975 standard:
Style 1 galvanzied wire as per ASTM A 641, class 3 soft temper Style 2 style 1 and overcoated with PVC Style 3 Zn-5Al-MM coated wire as per ASTM A 856

EN 10223-3 standard:
Galvanzied wire meets EN 10244-2 and old BS 443 Tensile strength between 380N/mm2 and 550N/mm2 according to BS 1052.

TOLERANCES:
On the hexagonal, double-twisted wire mesh opening shall not exceed 10% on the nominal dimension D values
